Lactec’s Welding and Thermal Aspersion Laboratory is dedicated to supporting research projects, with emphasis on the area of welding processes and material evaluation for the industry. It involves the development of processes and special materials and alloys with applications in thermal or hydraulic power generation systems.
The laboratory also develops and deposits coatings resistant to wear by cavitation and high temperatures (1,200 ° C). Provides technological services and consultancy in the areas of evaluation of welding processes and thermal spraying, metallurgical analysis and destructive tests.
- Qualification of welding procedures by the international system (IIW), from the preparation of the specimens to their qualification through destructive and non-destructive metallographic tests such as penetrating liquids, magnetic particles and ultrasound;
- Characterization of coatings by means of metallographic preparation, analysis in optical microscope, scanning electron, microdurometers, accelerated cavitation tests, tests in high temperature ovens and Burner Rig;
- Analysis of failures in mechanical components in general and characterization of metallic materials.
