Socioeconomic Studies

Lactec has a trained team, which seeks with the support of partner companies when necessary, to subsidize environmental licensing processes with the prerogatives demanded by socioeconomic aspects.

Socioeconomics is a branch of economic science, which is concerned with the relationship between social and economic factors and how this interaction affects society. For this reason, it is a broad field of study, which analyzes the effects and the interrelationships between social, economic, and cultural issues, and is also easily inserted in the analysis of the environmental issue.

The socioeconomic component has been increasingly required, in the most varied projects, both in the environmental area and in other fields, such as Research and Development (R&D). This is because it is a strategic field, which influences both the image of the entrepreneur and his business environment. Thus, ensuring a transparent and well-conducted relationship from the beginning with the impacted community can avoid social risks, which could harm the entrepreneur in the future. Several studies, surveys and actions related to socioeconomics meet this need and can be inserted in the most diverse fields, contexts and objectives, providing tools and improving this relationship between economic activities, the environment and society.

According to the Federal Constitution of Brazil of 1988, in its article 216, assets of a material and immaterial nature, taken individually or together, bearers of reference to the identity, the action, the memory of the different groups are constituted as Brazilian cultural heritage. trainers of Brazilian society, which include: I – forms of expression; II – the ways of creating, making and living; III – scientific, artistic and technological creations; IV – works, objects, documents, buildings and other spaces for artistic and cultural events; V – urban complexes and sites of historical, scenic, artistic, archaeological, paleontological, ecological and scientific value.

In the environmental licensing processes conducted by a competent environmental agency (federal, state, or municipal level), the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN) should be consulted. It is essential that IPHAN manifest itself to those ventures/activities in the process of environmental licensing that may impact or destroy cultural assets considered Brazilian heritage, protected by overturning.
